Welcome to the Marx Lab webpage!

Research in the Marx lab aims to identify ecological and evolutionary processes that drive patterns of plant biodiversity across space and time in natural ecosystems. We combine fieldwork and bioinformatic approaches to explore diversity dynamics. Plant communities within oceanic and alpine "sky" islands are central to our work.

For more information on our Herbarium and collections-based research visit the UNM Herbarium and Museum of Southwestern Biology websites.

Prospective students for Fall 2023 are encouraged to contact me by email (hmarx[at]unm.edu) to discuss interests and goals. Information on the admission process can be found here (application deadline is Jan. 3, 2022). Albuquerque and UNM are great places to live and work!
